Wordle is a service designed by Jonathan Feinberg who allows you to create a words cloud with a quantity of proportionate text or linkage to analyze the importance of every word in the text; Tagul is a similar service created by the Russian Alex who was inspired by Wordle but who wanted to offer major and improved characteristics in his proposal.
In search of services that were allowing me to give an example of analysis of content for the course that I give in the university I found two options that captivated me for his effectiveness and the history behind the creation of both. The words cloud is not an innovation, but when we apply these services with other activities as the education is worth while sharing the experience.
Wordle: a toy to create words cloud
Wordle is a service that offers you 3 ways of working: the first one is to take a certain text and to give it in the service to generate the words cloud. Him the second option works with URL of any blog, blog feed or any other web and the third option is to add the del.icio.us user to see the content cloud.
On this service he had mentioned to us that Cvander is nice, which generates an image that can be visualized in a new window, you can print it, it has a random option to change his design and kept in the public gallery. It is an option very easy to use to evaluate the predominant words in a text and it is a tool that can be used for the education, also it generates a code to shrink in your blog.
Tagul: a navigation option for your blog
Tagul since it was mentioning it at first is an option similar to Wordle but as the developer clarifies that there exist several characteristics that it does that Wordle and Tagul are different. To begin Tagul it is not “a toy” it is a service that allows you to create a words cloud, it generates a code that you can include in your blog and that also facilitates the navigation in the content because it is more than an image.
Tagul is a service that uses a platform flash to work and that also is a little more complex in his characteristics in contrast to Wordle, to use it you must register. Also an API mode is provided with and for the time being the service is free in spite of being a Startup. On having created the words cloud, it offers to you many other options for his design and use of code.
Words cloud to analyze content
After both proved service, for my course I found the service of Wordle very practical and easy to use without need for record. It had several articles that it was interesting to me to analyze his content and this one turned out to be the best option to do it. Also, I used the tool to show to my students the excessive use of the same words that do in his works and Wordle it allowed me to exemplify it.
But I believe that for those who want to implement the words cloud in his blog to sail and to analyze tags, Tagul undoubtedly offers us more options, the service turns out to be to me a better and finished option. For the professors who ask his students that to create a blog and to develop content this type of hardware also allows them to analyze tendencies in the topics of his students.
